渋谷駅前で30年続くカジュアルダイニングバーです。アーリーアメリカンをコンセプトにしてきた同店を、物に囲まれた“コレクションルーム”のような空間にしたいというオーダーを受けました。これからもコレクションが増えていくような楽しさがあり、それがまた何十年と続いていくなかでの中間地点としての意味合いを持たせた空間にすることを提案しました。
エントランスホールには、個々に表情が違う年代物のランタンを並べ、客席にはアンティークキャビネットを床から積み上げ、洋古書を収納していた木箱もリサイズ、そのまま洋古書ごと窓台に積み上げました。壁面や天井面にはコレクションを額装して飾り、今後も少しずつ増殖し、来店客を楽しませながら新たな歴史を積み重ねていける、そんな空間に仕上がったと思います。

This casual dining bar has 30 years of history in front of Shibuya station, Tokyo. We received an order from the owner to refurbish the space from Early American style to “collection room” style surrounded by items. We suggested creating the space as a halfway where collections increase more in the future, hoping the place to continue over the several decades. We placed antique lanterns that have different faces each in the entrance hall and piled up antique cabinets on the floors. Wooden boxes are resized and piled on window ledges with vintage books inside. We framed several collections and put them on the walls and ceilings. The numbers of collections keep growing and amuse visitors with new history. (Jun Shibasawa / side design performance)
